Brandon turned 30 on Thursday (10/27) and I had this great surprise party planned for him for Friday night. He had a softball game at 6 on Friday night and the guys were just going to bring him to Fat Daddy's in Mansfield after the game. I picked Kendall up from school after work, got the balloons and headed home to change. Kendall was so excited for "daddy's party". I planned on being at Fat Daddy's at about 6:30 since I told everyone to be there by 7.
I was getting Kendall in the car to head that way and my phone rang, it was Trever. (Plays ball with B and he was the one helping me get B to the party) he said "what are you doing?" I said "getting the car to head to Fat Daddy's." At this point, with the way he was talking, I was thinking that B was with him and the game was over early or something. Well, he said "everything is okay, stay calm. Brandon was pitching and got a line drive right in the forehead. He is okay, knows where he is, etc but he will need stitches for sure. You can take him to get stitches as soon as you get here." I instantly started shaking and my mind is going 100 mph. Is he okay? I have to get to the ball field NOW! Kendall needs to get in her car seat...NOW! All these people are headed to the party. What am I going to do? on and on and on. I get Kendall in her seat and get to the field as fast as I could. I pull up and the firetruck is sitting out front. I grab Kendall and take off running to find Brandon. (At this point, Kendall is cracking up because I am carrying her and she is bouncing all over the place and thinks I am just playing...little did she know.)
Of course they are playing on the field that is the farthest away. I spot Trever and then I see the stretcher. Then I panic! I gave Kendall to Trever and then I take off running to the stretcher as they are loading him in to the ambulance. Seeing him strapped down and all the blood, I was a wreck! I ride to the front gate in the back of the ambulance with him, then got out to get K and head to the hospital. I called my mom and dad to come get K and help keep me calm.
After waiting in triage for a while, they finally got a room for him. We went back there and the nurse looked at it said "oh, that's a good one." Really....you don't tell a nervous wife that. LOL. They said that he would need stitches and a CT scan since it was a head trauma. He was a little more at ease, because he finally had a tv and could watch the world series. They took him back to do CT scan and then came back and waited for the results before they would stitch him up. Results came back good. They said everything was negative and nothing was fractured or broken or anything. PRAISE THE LORD! 8 stitches later, we are home and healing.
I wasn't quite the surprise party I had planned for him!
Thank you's: Trever, for calling me and keeping me calm. Monica, for running Kendall to me after I got out of ambulance. Mom and dad for coming to get Kendall and helping me relax. Julie, Mitch, Brett and Nicole for hanging out at the party to let people know what was going on when they got there. And everyone else for all the prayers, well wishes, texts and calls. Our God is a healer!
I love you Brandon, but please don't do that to me again! ha

Just got the "numbing needle" so she can put the stitches in....that thing was LONG!!!!!!!!! Seriously, look how deep that thing is!
My phone died so I didn't get a picture of the stitches, but don't worry, I will take one when I change the dressing on it tonight. Here is one from today (day after incident)
